Detoxification
is a must for anyone over 30 who wants to avoid imbalance and disease as they
age, yet can be beneficial for those as early as in their teens and 20s as
well. We accumulate many toxins,
chemicals, and heavy metals in our bodies through the food we eat, what we
drink, and our interaction with the environment. The body needs to be relieved of these toxins
to function properly. It is also
important to create a more alkaline environment in the body to balance gut
flora and help the body heal. The liver, which filters much of these toxins,
naturally enters into detoxification on its own in the spring so this is the
perfect time to cleanse. I also feel a
second cleanse in the fall is useful.
There are many ways to detoxify the body, from
the lazy way of taking gobs of cleansing supplements without any diet change
(which truly doesn’t do much), to the extreme of fasting for weeks on end,
drinking endless green shakes, and doing colonics, which for many is not
feasible, possible, nor tolerable, and can be unsafe. In my 25 years of practice and knowledge of
natural health, detoxification doesn’t have to be that hard. Each time you do it, it is a bit of an
experiment as our body changes over time, but gets a little easier with experience. The process needs to be something you can do
once or twice a year while working and living your busy life, or you won’t do
it at all. I suggest 1-2 weeks once or
twice a year. Your results will be based
on how often you do it and how much you put into it; you will get better at it
over time. Don’t give up, just give this
a try……..
Depending on
how addicted you are to refined foods and how toxic you are, you may experience
hypoglycemia, withdrawal symptoms, cravings, tiredness, or weakness due to
dumping of toxins. It is a must that you
are eliminating easily on a daily basis; if not please include a product or
supplement for safe daily elimination. Also
drink lots of pure water! Email me at evolvingwellness@yahoo.com or Message me with questions. Good luck and trust the process!
